Shubo Shinsen** , Sapporo ( July'13) - casual kappo, almost Izakaya, style kaiseki that regularly tops the local foodie Tabelog website. Superb ingredients + superb (home) cooking = the best Japanese meal we had in Sapporo! No plating nor luxury chinaware, this is minimalist food at its tastiest - kinda remind us of the bistronomy in Paris. Over more than 15 different courses ( supplement from regular course) there wasn't a single dish we didn't enjoy. Some were simple yet spectacular ( linguine-like soba) , some less so. Afterall, kappo is not about refinement but overall enjoyment! One of our first stop for the next trip to Sapporo!
